10 uses for Shaving Cream

We all have used it at least once in our lives, but usually for only one purpose.  Did you know that it can also be a very useful tool around the house as well?  No longer is shaving cream used only for shaving, here is a list of 10 different uses of the shaving cream wonder.

1.       Carpet Stain Remover

No matter where you are in life, something is always bound to fall on that beautiful carpet of yours. Although it may happen once in a blue moon for most of you, when you have small kids like we do, it becomes a daily occurrence. Carpet cleaner can become expensive so that is why we use shaving cream.  Just pour it on the stained area and wait a few minutes to let it foam up and soak in. Then wipe it out with a damp cloth and wa-la you have a clean carpet once again!

2.       Mirror and window cleaner

When it comes to daily chores what better way to get the kids involved then to have a little fun in the process? Just spray on the shaving cream and let them play around until the entire surface is covered in shaving cream and then wipe off and now you have a streak free mirror or window.  –added plus, it also works as a defogger.

3.       Squeaky door stopper

Do you have that one door in the house that lets everyone know what you are up to? Well shaving cream can put a stop to it. Just spray a little dab on the hinges and you are good to go. No more need for oil.

4.       Waterless hand washing

How many of us, especially with young kids are found stuck at the park or sports meet wanting to wash our hands but don’t have a sink in site, well just pull out a can of shaving cream, pump some onto your hands, rub it around and wipe off with a towel and your hands are as good as new. Since shaving cream is basically just a really thick soap it cleans and disinfects.

5.       Table cleaner

This one is our favorite thing to do with our kids and they have no idea they are helping us clean! Just pour some shaving cream on the table and let them have at it. If your kids are like mine they can spend hours playing in the shaving cream. When they are all done, then wipe away with a damp cloth. Your table will be back to sparkling.

6.       Chrome Polish

I hate water marks on chrome, don’t you? Simply rub the shaving cream on your faucet, sink, fridge, or even oven handle and wipe off with a damp cloth and the problem is solved.

7.       Sneaker Cleaner

Scuff marks on your favorite pair of sneakers, rub them down with shaving cream and they wipe right off.

8.       Easter Egg dye

Ever forget to buy the dye for the Easter eggs, we sure did just this last year, so we pulled out our shaving cream and put a few drops of food coloring in and rolled the eggs around in it. Let them sit for 15 minutes then rub the shaving cream off and you have dyed Easter eggs.

9.       Bath paint

While you have the dye out why now put some shaving cream in small containers like an egg carton and mix in different colors. It makes a great bath paint set and cleans your bathtub while the kids are playing.

10.   Fun in the Sun

Yes shaving cream is a great cleaner, but it is also a great way to get the kids outside and in this beautiful sunshine. Shaving cream fights are a great way to let loose and have a little fun, especially when money is tight!

Not too shabby for a $2 can! Have your tired any of these? How did they work for you?
